About Masry

Why we built a dictionary that actually sounds like Egypt.

Why we built this

Most Arabic resources teach Modern Standard Arabic — the formal language of news and books, but not the one you'll actually hear on the street in Cairo, Alexandria, or anywhere else in Egypt. We started Masri because we wanted something different: a resource built entirely around real Egyptian Arabic, the way people actually speak it every day.

What makes Masri different

  • Organized by real-life topic, not alphabetical order — easier to actually remember.
  • Every word includes an example sentence, used the way Egyptians actually say it.
  • Native audio for every word and sentence, not robotic text-to-speech.
  • Free chapters to get started, no account required.

Who's behind Masri

Masri is built by a small team passionate about the Egyptian dialect and making it accessible to learners everywhere — whether you're reconnecting with family, planning a trip, or just curious about the language.
